It’s a sad day at Betseyville… the brain child of “forever young” Betsey Johnson. With the announcement of bankruptcy,shuttering down stores and letting go of all their employees, it could not get any worse for the designer who’s enjoyed a long-standing career in the industry. As one of the more prominent personalities at the helm of the 60’s youth movement ( think Mary Quant, Andy Warhol, mini skirt times) she gained enormous popularity for her whimsical aesthetic which she never quite grew out of. I personally wouldn’t be able to carry off her clothes (complete with the pink and the pouf), not even if I were 17, but I do admire her for the spunk and effervescence she manages to infuse in her clothes. At 70, when most women enjoy knitting, this amazing woman does cartwheels on the catwalk! 🙂 Lets hope she bounces back like she says she will. Here are some of her candy floss creations to lighten up an otherwise dreary post… 😦
