As cyclical as fashion is, I am sure each of us have a mini list of trends we wished never came back…In my list of “I’d rather die than wear them” trends, overalls occupy a comfortable place.:P I remember wearing one when I was eight and I think got called teddy bear at least 6 times and I have sworn off them ever since. And they seem to be coming back on the stores and on the street… Somehow I don’t resent them as much anymore despite the fact that they seem to look great only on a certain body type – read leggy, slim, not so busty or teen ;). But let’s not lose heart. Something tells me the overall dress or a printed version might be easier to conquer 😉 Also remember to buy them slightly bigger or in a slouchy fit …. you’ll see why right below 🙂
Throw in a great sense of style, a fabulous wardrobe, looks that befit a model, and a great style blog and that’s Hanneli in a nutshell. 🙂 The most interesting thing about her – she doesn’t have a specific look that defines her, girly one moment and grungy the next, Hanneli choose wearable pieces and does her little take on it. What’s more she is as comfortable in front of the camera as behind it. Check out her blog and you’ll know what I am saying 😀
I decided to do a memorial day special post – A tribute to the spirit of Americana! :)The uncanny stripes and stars have long found their way into fashion- so now you can wear your love for the country on your sleeve – literally! 😉 Jokes apart, I have immense respect for those working in the armed forces and a silent prayer for those who have lost their lives fighting for us. Before I choke with emotion, here’s hoping everyone’s making their best of the long weekend 😀
You know your red pants don’t quite cut it when your boyfriend decides to rock turquoise:) I like how he paired them with a casual blue gingham shirt and the espadrilles( looks like he’s been reading my blog and taking my advice seriously:P) were a nice “summer” touch. Having done so many things right, he deserved a feature on my blog now surely. Right? 🙂
In yet another edition of Incredible India, I decided to feature Paisleys : one of the most widely recognized patterns across the world today. My post is going to sound right out of a history textbook but nevertheless here’s some trivia 🙂
2. The mango motif holds a huge place in hindu iconography and is widely continued to be used in textiles, shawl, carpets and saris.3. The british colonization of India took the Paisley pattern to other parts of the world resulting in several hybrid designs and interpretations. 4. In course of time, the paisley became associated with the Bohemian vibe and “summer of love”.5. Paisley manages to come back into the fashion cycles every once in a while under different interpretations like these 🙂 It manages to somehow retain it’s old world charm.. So next time you wear Paisley, take a moment to appreciate it’s rich history 😀
Come summer and the espadrille comes with it..! 🙂 It’s amazing how many variations are available… flat soled, wedges, peep toes, creepers, sandals… you name it. I love them for their super casual vibe, and the fact that they look as great with a dress as with a pair of rolled hem pants… In fact I just ordered a fresh pair yesterday and here’s my attempt at getting you to buy yours 🙂I rest my case 😀 GOOD DAY/NIGHT everyone 🙂
I took to blogging 4 months ago only because I wanted a platform to express my opinion and to discuss things that interested me. I had minimal expectations about being followed or read by fellow bloggers. That being said, every time I received a comment or a like on a post, my heart used to leap just a little – a comforting reassurance that someone out there feels you 🙂 But my time here on WordPress has been more than rewarding, not only have I managed to appeal to a small dedicated audience, but once in a while I make my way into an award list 🙂 I was nominated by astimegoesbuy for the LIVING PASSIONATELY award and I can’t be excited enough that Laura found me apt enough for this honor. None of our lives are close to perfect.. we all have several moments of indecision, insecurity, stress and darkness, but the challenge would be to let them not bog you down… To keep going and to remember to pause ever so often and smell the roses… 🙂 Now for the rules
– Take a deep breath * breathes *
– Think about who you’d like to pass this on to
A shout out to these bloggers who churn out some great reads!
– Do something weird and out of the ordinary today
Haha this is something I do everyday.. today’s weird act involved making brunch with yesterday’s take out and day before’s left overs. 😉 And my stomach says it turned out perfect 😉
– Post the award someplace conspicuous…..
Mine’s on the inside of my wardrobe, winking at me every time I open it!
In my own little twist to this, here are some things that go hand in hand with living passionately 😉1. Explore – a lot of good things in life are for free 🙂 2. Power naps and beauty sleep can save you a lot of mood swings 😉 3. Wear some color 🙂 4. Travel – even if it means within new york.. on a subway 😛 Happy Living! 🙂
I am assuming the last few seasons of the bright red lip domination has resulted in the emergence of an all new lip shade.:) Call it wine, dark cherry or burgundy, this super dark version of red has been spotted on quite a few celebs and the runway alike. (Interestingly oxblood is touted to be a key color for fall.)I like it that there are plenty of shades to suit different skin tone. Dark lips add a bit of an edge to your look no doubt.. but I’d keep it strictly evening. Also remember to go easy on the rest of your make up.. else deep hued lips can age you by a few years(we wouldn’t want that would we 🙂 )For those of us not wanting the wine pucker.. how about giving those black basics a break and stocking up on some maroon pieces for our wardrobe. Here’s a strong case
We have been seeing each other for the last 1.5 years and its been a rollercoaster ride.. you’ve kept me up several nights, made me curse and cry, and also given me several moments to cherish.. hopefully, I took enough away from our time together to land a job and make a decent living 😛 Now its time we part… you shall be missed, but thankfully I’ll now have a life 🙂 Woohoooo.. I graduated 😀
I usually never post about my personal style or outfits, simply because it may not be interesting enough, but the epicness( I conveniently made that up :P)of today’s event made me want to share my grad garb… So here it is… 🙂
Maxi and mini got together and how… 🙂 Welcome the high low – a dramatic new silhouette that combines the long and short of it … a perfect contrast between being modest and showing off your gams.. A super feminine look that can be dressed up or down.. take cues from these stylish ladies.. who wear it in the most interesting ways. I am thinking of snagging a pleated chiffon number just in time for summer 😀 who’s with me?
