Ever since Chloe made those gorgeous pair of shorts; scallops have gotten a new lease of life 🙂 What was once part of lingerie and boudoir pieces for their super femininity and delicate look, are now on summer dresses, jackets, shorts and even bags! So how many of you’ll have embraced these curves? 😉 Happy weekend 🙂
Those of you’ll who’ve been to/live in New York have probably eaten at or at least heard of Eataly. Owned in part by renowned chef Mario Batali, this 5000 sq foot expanse houses exquisite varieties of pasta, sauces, artisanal cheeses, chocolates and beer apart from signature italian dishes. But what I wanted to mention was a small corner of the restaurant- The Pasticceria or more familiarly their bakery section that features some of the best dessert I have ever tasted! The sweet treats come in mini size portions in variations like chocolate, caramel and fresh fruit (in adorable little plastic dishes) that are delicious, light and not cloyingly sweet(what’s more there are several sugar free versions too if calories bother you)! So next time you are around flatiron, head to Eataly, sink your teeth into one of their mini dolcis .. and while you are at it try their pistachio gelato too 😀 Bon Appetit!
I came across this photo of Kate moss in an old copy of the vogue. Isn’t the dress fabulous?( and a perfect excuse to do a post on polka dots?) 🙂 My love for polka began when I was three – my mom got me a dotted tutu, and till date, I find myself gravitating towards anything polka on a shop floor. While all of us can safely agree that polka dots look great on a casual outfit , it lends itself to girly, dressy, formal and quirky looks as well 🙂
Hello everyone, the birthday celebrations went on a little.. nay much longer than I expected and hence the absence! ( Hoping I was missed):) But now I am back 😀 Having spent so much time outdoors, I’ve kept my eyes peeled for trends. After the onslaught of printed pants, its kind of a no brainer that now its the printed shorts that are basking in the trend spotlight! Animal prints, polkas, floral patterns, geometric motifs in striking colors are a fun addition to your wardrobe! So give those favorite denim cutoffs a breather and pull on a pair of these fun shorties, and enjoy the sun 😀
Recently, last week to be specific, Fashion campus NYC, an event to bring the industry insiders and students together was hosted by Parsons. Several prominent personalities including Chris Benz were present to dish out advice on how to make it into the industry. Undoubtedly internships were mentioned and pointers on how to convert your internship into a possibly real job were handed out to eager students:) As a recent graduate with several internships underway, everything discussed rung true. Some of them were obvious, others not quite. So everyone who’s facing a similar predicament as I am , hoping to make your way into the fashion business, or in fact any industry, here’s what the big guns had to say. 😀
1. Network…Reach out to as many people you can, and don’t be afraid to introduce yourself wherever you intern and make sure to keep in touch. Contacts are handy when you need to find a job( and woefully I seriously lack in this department)
2. Be Nice to everyone: You never know who you are going to bump into, who you would end up working under, and who you’d be competing with for the same job! Being nice makes your life easier! It isn’t too hard 🙂 Also try not to frown when you are asked to get some coffee. 😉
3. Be a sponge : It’s possible you might not be doing as much as you’d want to at an internship but try to learn new things even if it is how to fedex a package( I did). And ask questions, take the opportunity to learn new software and tools you may be unfamiliar with.
4. Grab every opportunity to make an impression: Right from dressing appropriately for your interview to handling pressure at work and “fitting in” with the company’s work culture are all possible ways to creative a positive memorable image of your self.
I can’t help but wonder at this point.. what am I doing wrong? The job eludes me … *sigh* 😀
After much thought and a short wait, I’ve gotten my own Pinterest account * Woohoo*. I am probably one of the last ones to start pinning, but honestly I failed to see the need for it when I had my own blog. It’s only after a few pins that I have realized why it’s so popular. It’s super easy, hardly requires any writing, and is an excellent way to create a database of anything that catches your fancy. Also must I mention that it’s very addictive 😉 So those of you’ll who share my initial skepticism, I urge you to give it a try, and those of you’ll who are already on Pinterest, I suggest you follow me:P and I’ll return the favor (Note to self: Learn the art of subtlety) 😉 Here are some of my favorite pins so far 😀
Ingredients: Two impending birthdays, a gullible unsuspecting girl, a boyfriend with some plans up his sleeve, a mini cooper, two tickets to a sky diving trip, and a huge dose of adrenaline.
Just when I was looking for an excuse to post about one of my favorite design houses,H&M announces their next collab with Maison Martin Margiela. (surprise surprise!!) One of the Antwerp 6, Margiela was one of the more reclusive designers who chose to remain behind the scenes working meticulously on his contemporary and out of the box clothing which channeled the avant garde movement along with contemporaries Rei Kawakubo and Ann Demeulemeester. Though he is no longer at the helm, his legacy is carried forward through their collections season after season. Here are some classic examples! Wondering how the H&M collab will turn out considering MMM is anything but commercial 🙂
