Sure trends come and go! But some of them manage to transcend across clothing into hair & beauty and whole heartedly be embraced as a lifestyle trend! Ombre is one of the biggest trends to make the cut! (I could count in one hand the number of people who haven’t tried ombre hail or nails!) 🙂 And what’s more you could wear the bright ombres over the last remaining days of summer and continue wearing it through fall albeit a more somber palette perhaps 😀 So here’s some inspiration.:) Oh btw did I tell you I am wearing an ombre skirt today?
Did we all have a fab weekend? I sure hope so! It’s always the toughest to get back to your routine after lazing around for two whole days, not to mention all the continuous stream of junk ingested( if you are anything like me that is) 😉 but after two months of doing nothing, I am not going to complain about “routine” anytime soon:) Here’s my snapshot of the week that was!
1. Been spending an impressive amount of time at the garment district in Manhattan and I’d now like to think that I know where exactly I can find any kind of rivet, button or lace 🙂2. Weekend is now officially Bakeend! 😛 I baked a batch of chocolate almond brownies for my boyfriend- It’s funny how I try to impress him even after all these years( Its actually only been three ). 😀3. Mac made a lipstick inspired by Azalea Banks! I’d never be able to carry this off.. ever, but there couldn’t be a more fitting match!:)4. Lesson learnt this week! 🙂5. What better way to pay homage to the original moonwalker than a shot of futuristic designer Andres Courreges’ work from the 60’s- RIP Neil ArmstrongHave a wonderful week ahead, and don’t forget to smile through it all 😀
Yesterday, I think I must have spotted at least four tuxedo pants on the streets through the day, which is A LOT! A tuxedo pant is a classic and the stripe running along the side adds a touch of contrast to an otherwise severe looking piece. But trust us designers to come up with casual versions( Isn’t the printed one great?) so you take this pant from work to the evening!:) Would you wear this?
Is that a blazing meteor? blinding neon UFO,? A jewelry store come alive? .. Oh wait look it’s Anna Dello Russo!:P Proud owner of a gargantuan collection of over 4000 pairs of kicks; Vogue Japan’s editor of large is a jewelry junkie, a staple on most style blogs and if all this doesn’t impress you, she also infamously quoted ” If I do not get photographed, I will be miserable.” While I have to resort to several things to keep you’ll interested, Miss Russo has obviously no such problem! 😉 Isn’t she crazy in the coolest way?:) ( I mean look at those sunglasses)
“Hi5 Mondays” is my mini snapshot of the best things that happened over the course of the last week. Usually I do plenty of things that I’d like to think of as fun, this week was no different 😀
1. Baked my first chocolate cake with surprising success 🙂 2. Would you believe it if I said I’ve never worn lipstick until 6 months ago. And after I tried the red lip I’ve been in love ever since. 🙂 My new favorite is ” Orange Flip” from Revlon and it suits my skin tone perfectly. I would recommend it to pretty much everyone. 3. I was randomly browsing a bunch of blogs when I read that Philip Lim is releasing a comic book coinciding with fashion night out this fall. His collection is inspired by noir comedy style heroines and from the looks of it seems like something I’d want to get my hands on for sure 🙂4. Is anyone as crazy about bubble tea as I am? Had some last week at Ten Ren in Chinatown! Heaven!5. Finally, I have found a job as a freelance designer in Manhattan! 🙂 So hopefully I will whine less 😉That sums up my week. And here’s to another fab one lovelies ! 🙂
Have a toned bod? Read on. Have a not-so-toned bod and yet have oodles of confidence and the attitude to pull of a risque fashion trend? Please read on too. 🙂 I m loving the onslaught of the cut out dresses that are all over town. It’s perfect for summer and is a great way of showing a little skin if you aren’t comfortable going all out. The trick is to know where to draw the line. Here are a few pointers to pulling off this cute trend. 🙂1. Highlight only one part of your body: Lets face it! All of us have certain parts of our body we love and are confident about, and others we like to camouflage or try to keep hidden;) While picking one of these cut out pieces, make sure you pick a style that highlights a part of your body you are comfortable showing- you may have toned abs and can pull off a midriff cutout, while others like me may cringe at the idea and pick a back cut out instead. Ensure you stick with one area unless…. No just dont. 🙂2. Just lay off the baubles: Lets let the dress do all the talking. Stick to neutral accessories and subtle jewelry if you must. 3. Say No when you have to: If you think the dress is a tad overboard.. it probably is. Don’t pick up something you are not comfortable with and end up letting it gather dust in your closet. If an all out cut out dress is not your style, pick something that is subtle – maybe a bow back or a halter with a cutout that highlights your collar bone.4. Make sure you are errm.. well supported: Straps in the wrong places look unsightly and distract from the look of the cut out. When you pick your dress, remember to pick something appropriate to wear under it.The weekend gives you the perfect excuse to traipse around in these cuties! Have a great one 😀 and do let me know fi this is a trend you’d wear 🙂

True that. Several bold jeweled pieced on the streets, statement chunky jewelry on practically every blog subject , and tonnes of editorials featuring in your face accessories later I feel like I need a breather! These delicate ,fine, almost wispy looking jewelry show you that you don’t need to always go dramatic to make a statement 🙂
As India celebrates it’s 65th year of independence, I take a minute to reflect on the things that make this country so unique….a land so diverse be it the many languages, varied cultures, multiple religions, different cuisine, contrasting terrain…yet together in spirit… a place where snake charmers and software engineers co exist 🙂 They say a picture can speak a 1000 words, in that case here’s my essay. India.. How I miss you.. Several of these images may be cliches, but doesn’t take your breathe away any less..HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY fellow indians 😀
