It is my be-a-nicer-version-of-yourself day , also known as Friday which is why I chose to  feature myself wearing a dress as opposed to the shorts and tee uniform I have been sporting lately 😛 This block printed red-pink version with a relaxed waist line is a favorite to wear to anything that involves eating or posing coyly while thinking of eating. I have wondered one too many times if this was intended to be a maternity dress up but what can I say.. It serves my purpose !? 😀 Enjoy the weekend

I seldom post on a sunday because am too busy warding off monday blues 😛 , but this week was different. I was in such an upbeat mood the entire time awaiting the weekend for Deepavali (one of my favorite festivals of all time) + halloween( which I refuse to outgrow)! In fact I did so many things over the week it simply wasn’t enough to cram it all in one post:D So here’s part 1 of Diwalloween and part 2 to follow tomorrow.

  1. The new clothes( Courtesy: 2 sets of parents from home)made up for the lack of crackers( barely though). Good news is I can still wear a sari without becoming a human pretzel! 😛fullsizerender_1 img_35072. This was the first time I tried making all these indian goodies so I started earlier this week to make sure I had enough time. Big mistake…. We polished off most of the snacks and I had to make some more this weekend 😉 NOM NOM NOM! f3. Deepavali literally translates to festival of lights…. so we decided now was a good time to put up lights on our patio. img_35914. We visited the temple after a while! This picture could have literally been in Chennai and no one would know! 😀 I misss hommmeeeeeeimg_35255. More food!?? Went all out with my Diwali breakfast spread and skipped lunch! NOW IF THAT ISNT THE WAY TO LIVE!?? 😀img_3493HAPPY DEEPAVALI/ DIWALI EVERYONE! 😀 Hide your weighing scaleeesssss!! 🙂

Hello Guys,

Been a while since I hi5ed! So this week’s edition is going to be a little all over the place so please bear with me! 🙂 I want to wish all my Indian readers a happy Navarathri. This was one of my favorite times of the year back home – arranging  and creating elaborate scenes featuring my favorite dolls and insisting that the string lights be on all day, much to my mom’s annoyance 😉

Due to lack of space, dolls and patience I was unable to do this for the last few years but since I don’t have any of the above excuses now I TRIED this time. Next year we will be more prepared with a legit padi as opposed to a bookshelf 😛img_30212. Obviously this also means dressing the part!fullsizerender3. Went on a 4 day trip to New York on work for a show at the Javits! How does a place change so much in a few months? You tell me! 4. Took a drive into the natural bridge wildlife ranch. Among other things we took a video of a zebra slobbering all over our car window but obviously you get to see this quite guy instead 😀5. Kuzhipaniyarams are so easy to make, provided you have the pan. Now I do! 😛img_2900Have a wonderful week! Eat well my friends 🙂

Namaskaram Everyone!!

I am greeting you guys in tamil(my first language) in part because I have been doing a lot of things that remind me of home (eating dosas, watching movies, and what not) 😛 but also because I am plain homesick. Add monday mornings to the mix and that is the perfect recipe for furrowed brows and clenched jaws 😛  Nothing that some old fashioned whining and candy eating can’t remedy! 😉 Here’s my top 5 from last week.

1. Made some basil spinach fettuccine with parmesan! Leftovers for the lunchbox today 🙂 20150712_1617072. The legendary toy store FAO Schwarz is closing their doors this month and that warranted one last visit to buy overpriced bags of candy, and photos of with life sized stuffed penguins and lego batman! 🙂 3. Here is the best looking version of me as per my mom. 😉 Photo on 7-12-15 at 1.41 PM4. How have I not known of this UD lip primer considering I own 6 shades of red?? Anyway better later than never 😀5. Watched a tamil movie in a theatre after a good while and thoroughly enjoyed it. Like I said time to take a holiday!! 🙂 Brace yourselves for a wonderful week ahead! 😀

Since this was my first diwali as an ahem…. married woman I decided I needed to be a little less lazy than usual! 😛 And now I am quite proud of the fact that I can finally drape a sari without having my mom on the other end of the phone when I hyperventilate 😉 I was also kind of skeptical about not having the long hair to hide behind, but I think the short hair weirdly works with the boat neck blouse!? You tell me! IMG_4332IMG_4331IMG_4333

Alrighty monday.. am not ready for you yet, come back later! 😛 Ahh I am still recovering from all the sugar I put in my system with a vengeance over the weekend ; which reminds me.. Belated Diwali wishes to all my Indian readers 🙂 Also did I mention I am terribly homesick? Before I digress here are the highlights of my week 🙂

1. Gotta love an occasion that let’s me wear some Indian garb! 😀 20131026_1708552. And also put this need in me to go visit a temple …after what seems like a gazillion years 🙂3. If all the indian sweets weren’t enough I also sunk my teeth into delicious  cream puffs from Beard Papas. 4. Cue for the person who said wearing a bright lip isn’t “cool” for fall to squirm uneasily and back away! 😛 20131030_0811165. “Too lazy to fix a meal.. too proud to eat a salad” is how I like to describe myself and then I met the shepherd’s salad…and life has never been the same.. I actually make this too much 😛Happy happy week! Smile away! 😀

despicable me, frozen yogurt, Indian, pink nails, vegetarian ginger

Hi everyone!

Everything well? I Loved the long weekend! Getting back to work.. not so much :p but then what’s new 🙂 Anyway I did a lot of stuff over the week.. here are some of the more fun ones 😀

1. Come summer and I eat yoghurt/ sorbet/icecream like I drink water!:) I have paid enough visits to the pinkberrys and red mangos of the world to be on first name basis with the desk staff 😛 Also I may or may not be snacking on some sorbet as I type this. 2. Nothing spells hot summer than hotter pink nails 😛 20130703_1416343. Pigged out on thai food at vegetarian ginger! 20130704_1419584. I loved despicable me. I loved despicable me 2 as much 🙂 And I loved this song from the movie the most. Those minions could make a statue smile! 5. It’s probably because I am starting to get homesick, but I decided to wear some indian garb on a whim to work last week! And yes my nail color looks nicer on this one :dWP_20130703_001Have a great week everyone! 🙂

Ethnic influences are fashion’s new found love, with designer brands like Burberry,Donna Karan and others showing “tribal” inspired collections for spring. And what’s more interesting is the way New Yorkers are embracing their roots and putting their own spin on it! Here’s my attempt at translating what I saw on the streets 🙂
